How to Use Your Stay-at-Home Mom Schedule as a Manifestation Tool

Do you have a schedule you follow each day? Or do you prefer to see what happens, see what you feel like and see how the kids are going to show up?

I resisted the idea of a schedule for years but finally decided to commit to trying it when I heard about the concept of using your schedule as a manifestation tool. I suddenly realized: What if it was never about getting through a list of things “to-do” each day, but only ever about creating specific results I want to see for myself in my life at home with my kids?

Once I saw this clearly, I began to plan my days to actually BE the person I want to be right now, not just to get through an ever-growing list of tasks so that I could hopefully (maybe) start living the life I truly wanted “one day when I’m organized”.

So how do you use your schedule to manifest the exact life you want?

Plan your day in the morning

Each morning, ask your brain to decide on ONE THING that you will get done that day, then see it in your mind as already done and feel exactly the way you’re going to feel about it being done RIGHT NOW.

The brilliant example of this comes from author Gregg Braden’s story about his Native American friend, David, who wanted to bring on the rain during a long drought in New Mexico in the ‘90s.

I read about this in the book ‘The Magic of Pray Rain’ by Jeannette Maw, which describes how David, rather than singing, chanting and dancing, closed his eyes and simply spent time quietly in a sacred circle.

“David…said if he prayed FOR rain he wouldn’t get rain. Because when we pray FOR something, we acknowledge its absence, and that acknowledgment empowers the very condition we don’t want.

“What David did was “pray rain”.

“He felt the rain falling on his arms, collecting under his toes, smelled it in the air, tasted it on his tongue, imagined shoulder high corn due to all the rain that’s come.

“He FELT rain.”

And the story goes that it, of course, rained!

I love this example because it illustrates so beautifully the place we want to be in when we’re creating the life we want for ourselves.

We want to be in the energy of having things DONE now, even before we start doing anything at all, thus making it inevitable

So what can we use “pray rain” for?

We can use “pray rain” for anything we want! If you want to get a healthy meal cooked today or create a beautiful moment of connection with your kids or start learning an entirely new skill…know that it’s already done and that you already ARE that version of you who has done that.

Then add it to your schedule for the day, deciding first thing what time you’ll do it and how long YOU want it to take. When that time of day rolls around, you then get it done in the exact time you set for it.

What if it ends up taking longer?

It won’t end up taking any longer than the time you set for it because you’re only going to allow it to take that long! And whatever you get done in that fixed amount of time is always, always good enough.

Following through on this commitment to yourself often means giving up perfectionism, but it’s always good to remember that perfection is entirely subjective anyway! And remind yourself that you’re not doing this task in the hope of becoming a perfect version of yourself, but that the reason you want to do it is because it’s in integrity with who you truly are and the life you have consciously chosen for yourself.

And when it’s done…you celebrate being the person who honors her word to herself (my favorite way to celebrate: a 5-minute dance party with my kids!).

What about everything else on your to-do list?

Check in on your to-do list regularly to make sure that everything on there aligns with your values and what’s most important to you. Anything else that’s there simply because that’s what you’ve always done can be dropped because it was never YOUR priority anyway and would always have ended up being pushed further and further down the list (I used to have things on my list for months!).

For the rest, YOU get to decide whether you want to use that “done” energy to tackle something else on your list or to rest and play.

Our worth NEVER lies in our productivity and it’s perfectly ok to let things go that were never about your personal standards or what’s important to YOU in the first place.

Once you realize this, it becomes easy to step into who you truly are - and to finally cross “becoming her” off your list!

This way, manifesting your dream comes from being the person who does what she wants to do and says she’s going to do - and repeatedly building that self-trust every single day. One of my stay-at-home mom clients manifested a 6-day “working” week and a day of relaxation for herself by designating Sundays “family movie day”, prepping easy meals for breakfast and lunch in advance during the week, and getting take-out for Sunday dinner.
